Why finish the SSLC syllabus by January?

Because the marks are made in revision. Finishing the last portions by end January leaves February for two revision passes and past papers, and early March for final memory work — instead of racing new chapters near the public exam.

How many past papers should I solve for SSLC?

Start with the current-year DGE model paper for each subject in January, then two to three full timed past public-exam papers per subject in February. Timed practice is what trains exam speed.

How does the SSLC roadmap fit the Tamil Nadu school calendar?

It is built on it: Phase 1 runs June to the September Quarterly, Phase 2 to the December Half-Yearly, and Phase 3 from January — through the school revision exams — to the March public exam. The Half-Yearly is treated as the main public-exam rehearsal.
